The short version

FABZ collects no data. There are no servers of ours, no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything you type into it is stored in a database file on your own device, and is included in your phone's own backup to your personal Google or Apple account so that you don't lose it if you lose your phone. That backup belongs to you, not to us — we cannot access it, and we have no technical means of receiving your records at all.

FABZ is a paid subscription, handled entirely by Google Play. That is the only thing in the app that talks to the internet, and it carries no part of your financial records.

Nothing below contradicts that paragraph. The rest is detail.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you record lives in one database file (finance.db) inside the app's private storage on your device:

None of this is ever transmitted. The app has no server to send it to, no account to sync it with, and no code that uploads it.

What we collect

Nothing.

The only network requests the app makes are Google Play's, to check whether your subscription is active. They carry no records, no amounts, and no categories — only whether the subscription is valid.

Third parties

Google Play, for the subscription only. Your payment is handled by Google Play, under Google's own privacy policy. We never see your card details, and we receive only aggregate sales figures — how many subscriptions were sold, not who bought them.

There are no others. No advertising networks, no analytics providers, no crash reporting, no social media integrations, and no subscription middleware. Your financial records are shared with nobody, including Google, because they never leave your phone.

Scanning a screenshot

The app can read a screenshot of your bank or a photograph of a receipt and turn it into records, so you do not have to type them. This happens entirely on your device.

When you file a scanned payment under a category, the app remembers that pairing, so the next time that shop appears the category is already filled in. This is a simple list of shop names and the category you chose, stored on your device with everything else. It is the one thing the app works out for itself rather than something you typed, so you can erase the whole list at any time from Settings, without affecting any of your records.

Biometric unlock

If you turn on the app lock, FABZ asks your device to confirm your identity using the fingerprint, face, or passcode already set up on it. Your biometric data is handled entirely by your device's operating system. The app never receives it, never stores it, and only learns whether the check succeeded or failed.

Device backups

Your device's own backup system — Google Drive on Android, iCloud on iOS — includes this app's database in your device backup, the same way it does for your other apps. This is deliberate: it means that if you lose or replace your phone, the records you have built up come back with it rather than being lost.

That backup is made by your device, to your own cloud account, under your operating system's privacy policy. It is not sent to us, we are not a party to it, and we cannot access it. If you would rather it did not happen, you can turn it off in your device's backup settings, and the app will keep working exactly as before — your data will simply exist only on the device.

The subscription

FABZ is a monthly subscription, billed by Google Play through your Google account. The price is shown in Google Play and in the app before you buy. Managing or cancelling it is done in your Google Play subscription settings, not in the app — we cannot see or change your subscription, and we hold no billing record of you.

Your data is yours whether or not you subscribe. If your subscription lapses, nothing is deleted and nothing is uploaded; your database stays on your device, and the export feature keeps working so you can always take a copy with you.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual records inside the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes its database and everything in it from the device; to remove the copy held in your own device backup, use your phone's backup settings. There is no account to close and nothing for us to delete on our side, because we hold nothing.

Children

FABZ is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app adds a feature that sends data anywhere, this policy will be updated before that version is released, the change will be described plainly rather than buried, and any such feature will be off by default and require your explicit consent to turn on. Continued use of an existing version never silently changes what happens to your data.
